London is a leading global city in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transportation. London is often regarded as a world cultural capital, and one of the world leaders in creative industries. Furthermore, as one of the most popular destinations in the world, England's buzzing capital city has much to offer, from magnificent history and culture to cutting-edge fashion and food. At its centre stands the imposing Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, the iconic Big Ben clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames River, the London Eye observation wheel provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the entire city.

Summer London weather can be very pleasant with temperatures averaging 18°C (64°F) and often into the low 20s (68°+F). In recent years London has also experienced heatwaves with temperatures well above 30°C (86°F). However, the weather can be unpredictable, so Londoners get used to carrying both an umbrella and sunglasses to be prepared for all eventualities! In addition to the above, mentioned attractions, London also offers some of the finest art galleries, and museums in the world, plus further iconic tourist destinations such as the Covent Garden, Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral, and Trafalgar Square. Furthermore, well-known destinations such as Oxford, Cambridge Stonehenge, Blenheim Castle (AKA Downton Abbey), Shakespeare’s birthplace Stratford-upon-Avon, and the white cliffs of Dover are just a few hours away. Harry Potter fans, can also enjoy a trip to a magical day out with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Harry Potter films at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, or visit platform 9 ¾ at Kings Cross Station. Sherlock Holmes fans will want to visit 221B Baker Street of course. Theatre goers will also appreciate access to some of the world’s most popular shows in London’s vibrant West End district, or Shakespeare: open-air in Regents Park, or in the unique reconstruction of an Elizabethan playhouse – the Globe Theatre.
